History of artificial intelligence is not short as we think. The thoughts of mechanical humans sound weird. By any chance, have you come across that in your quest for knowledge? If not, then you probably will learn some more knowledge today. I’m here to go down memory lane and bring back the story, myths and beliefs of artificial intelligence (AI). Let’s explore its history.
History of artificial intelligence – From the dawn of mankind
Experts began their quest for a mock brain. So, the AI history started. Folks mostly think like that. But, a deeper search shows more than that. The idea dated back past that point. The proofs were available in stories, myths and tales of man-made beings. Pygmalion Galatea and Hephaestus are golden robots. And, they were both of Greek myth. They stand for man-made beings. The Mid Ages were rife with tales of living means. They wanted to put human mind in matter. Paracelsus Homunculus and the Takwin were just some cases. The modern AI started in the 19th century. At that time, fake men and thinking gears were false thoughts and gossip. Darwin was one of such fiction. It was created by Samuel Butler. It’s the first sample of its kind.
History of artificial intelligence – The early days
Away from myths, self-operating gears or automaton were the first true means by which craftsmen proved the prospect of AI. In the history of artificial intelligence, such machines dot on every culture. Egypt and Greece were places where craftsmen filled real minds to the machine. Those machines were able of feelings and wisdom. Automaton is a word of Greek origin. It means acting of one’s own will. That explains the faithful’s belief in man-make machine.
If nobody believes human brain can be replicated in a mechanized way, artificial intelligence would not be here today. Credits for that level of thinking goes to various philosophers in the history of artificial intelligence. Aristotle was the first person who provided the world with a formal study of syllogism. Al-Khwarizmi was the creator of algebra. And, Euclid was the inventor of elements. Based on that, the model of formal reasoning is built. William of Ockham and Duns Scotus philosophers also should not be left out in the history of artificial intelligence because of their scholastic aids. Ramon Lull of Majorcan origin is credited with the change of many logical machines. Those machines produced knowledge by logical means.
History of artificial intelligence – The modern time
Modern artificial intelligence came to reality when computer became available in 1950s. Norbert Wiener noted the link between human brain and machines. He was the first American to make such study. It was set with a principle called feedback theory. His theories were the results of his researches. He found out that all brainy actions always consist of with a feedback mechanism. And, such means could be easily simulated by machines. This was a finding that had much effect on early growths in the history of artificial intelligence.

History of artificial intelligence and robots
By the mid of the 1950s, Newell and Simon invented the first modern AI program. It worked by using the logic idea. The tests were tree models. The program tried to solve each problem by selecting of a branch of the tree. Each branch is the most likely correct result. John McCarthy was considered to be the father of AI. He came into fame in 1956 at Vermont meeting. There, the skill and expertise of fans of machine brain was grouped together. For a whole month, they did brain storm. The result gave the field of artificial intelligence its name. That also made it become an academic discipline. Then, smart programs were developed. Computers were made to solve algebra problems. PCs also learn to speak English. Chatbots are one of them. Like I said in the previous posts, you can trick them as well. Our Cleverbot tricks are the fun examples to know.
Talking about the AI history is not done without saying about the funding parts. Those funds have gone into the studies of artificial intelligence. AI field has advanced greatly from both private and public funding to date. The British and US governments and many private bodies have spent so much into researching of AI. All of the funding has made a great growth for history of artificial intelligence today.
